Hoxton – PDF sewing pattern (sizes 6–20)

Introducing the Hoxton Halter-Neck: proof that quick and glamorous aren't mutually exclusive.

This is a halter-neck with a relaxed, floaty silhouette, cut on the bias so it has a soft, fluid drape. Bust darts keep the front neatly shaped, and the back is softly scooped (don't worry, it's still strapless-bra-friendly).

Choose between three lengths:

• Top
• Mini dress – hits just above the knee
• Midi dress – just above the ankle

And you have two neckline options:

• A flamboyant long tie
• A neat button and loop closure

Any combination works beautifully for summer, for holidays, or for the kind of party where you want to look like you made an effort without looking like you tried too hard. Here's the bit I love most: there are no closures at all (unless you fancy a zip – there's a bonus set of instructions for that too), and the whole thing is finished with a simple facing.

The Top is also the perfect pattern for using up leftover fabric from any other bias-cut dress; that awkward offcut you couldn't quite bring yourself to throw away finally has somewhere to go. The instructions walk you through exactly how to handle fabric on the bias, along with how to sew a neat French seam and a proper baby hem.
